We develop bulls differently here at Deep Grass Graziers. They are grown slowly on high quality forages, baleage, and hay. We believe this prevents feet and fertility issues that can arise from an energy intense ration which balloons bulls to fat, eye appealing proportions in very little time. Its cheaper and easier to put bulls in a lot and feed them a ration, but when you get your bull home and he starts breeding cows, many producers watch their big strapping bull 'melt' under the work of breeding and the lack of energy in our southeastern grasses. A high energy ration also doesn't discriminate against those bulls that are not efficient pasture converters. Our bulls work for their meal ticket, and its easy to separate the efficiency converters from the average.
Our genetics have been sourced from lineages built around great cows. We breed for reproductive longevity, which promotes fertility and structural soundness first and foremost. We recommend our genetics for customers who want to save or sell replacement heifers, and build their herd around moderate-sized, efficient cows that are great at turning grass into profit.
Our bulls are not terminal. Our steer calves have adequate growth, but we are not trying to breed giant cows that are more costly to maintain. Consequently, most of our bulls frame scores are from 3 to 5, and will weigh between 1600-1900 lbs at full maturity on a southern pasture diet. Full maturity occurs between 4 and 5 years of age developed our way. Most of our bulls are low birthweight, and safe to use on heifers. The females from our bulls will mature at weights between 1000-1300lbs, depending on frame score and BCS. Our goal is to wean over 50% of our dam's bodyweight in to and throughout her teenage years. We aim to do this with minimal inputs and under a 45 day breeding window.
We are not in this business to brag about our weaning weights, we are in this business to make money, improve our soils, and enjoy doing it. Our bulls are a great value compared to more popular "grass genetics" that have been well marketed over the past few years, and really thrive in our Southeastern soils and forages.

Bulls for Sale
It's been a great year for bulls sales. We have just a few 2+ year old bulls available, including a few ET sons from EXT and a historic McCumber bull. We do have a few long yearlings that are ahead of schedule and looking great. We normally don't advertise them until 2 years old but these guys would be ready to breed 2 dozen cows. Except for Max, all are black or black red gene carriers. (Merv, Mond, and Mac, pictures to come). We also have an intensely Linebred RA 3 year old bull (pictures to come) we've used that we will be offering when we pull bulls this season, to make room for more of our composite breeding for 2026. Most of our bulls are heifer safe. We consider ourselves one of the better kept secrets in the SE for maternal, low input Angus and Angus cross genetics. We don't want to be a secret, but don't market as well as our competitors from other regions. Don't judge our bulls on their price tag. We hope they are more expensive every year as more folks come to learn what a value they are for producing sons that can grade on grass, and daughters that work most places east of the MS and some West. Videos coming soon. Call to schedule a visit to see for yourself.
Prices range from $4000-$5500.

Max is a long yearling raised on nothing but grass and hay. His sire traces back to an old school Southern Reds RA. We are keeping a brother that is very similar.
Two EXT sons out of a historically good Chris Throne flush cow that trace back to Graham. Chris said one of the better cows he's owned...and he's owned a slew of good cows.
Senangus 3 year old (DGG 168k) we just pulled from breeding our commercial cows. Yes, he's still growing. His top side was our MS 87f Senepol bull, whose mom is my favorite cow in the Sanders' herd. Bottom side was a red gene carrier that blended Oliver Family Angus with my favorite bull I ever used from Red Hill, a T189 x 46s.
Herd Sires for Sale
We are shifting gears here at DGG starting this year and will only be saving around 10 bulls per year from a group of 150+ male calves. We will start selling our herd sires earlier and using younger bulls sooner, increasing our generational interval. We have always focused on our top cows, but it will become the primary criteria of our selection process, alongside docility and structure. We will have our first online female sale in NOV 25' and bull sale in April 26', but will be selling private treaty for a few more months. Stay tuned for more details.
DGG 236h-$5500
236h's mother was one of the top producing cows we've ever owned, a registered Hereford we bought many years ago from Dillard Polled Hereford's dispersal. Top side of the pedigree was straight Trask and acquired by Teddy Gentry for the creation of the South Poll breed. She finally came up open last year at 15 years old. DGG 236H as one of the few sons she made after a string of daughters (see picture of 103f below...1/2 sibling to 236h) that she contributed to the herd. He was the best son she produced and has been making some great baldies on our place for the past 3 years. He is a son of our Calvo Warrior 50a red Angus bull, the top selling bull at his sale in 2015. 236H is a 4.5 frame Red baldy bull with a touch more growth and birthweight than most of our offerings. Not a sleep all night heifer bull, but one that you should be pleased with both sons and daughters.
As a 3 year old pictured above raised on forage only.
Here he is June 2025 as dominant bull in group of 150 young cows. Maintains condition and carries himself on very good feet. Testicles balanced and voluminous.
1/2 sib to 236H, this our favorite commercial cow, 103f. Picture on left is a month after having her second calf, and on the right, nearing the end of raising her first calf as a 2 year old. She's 7 this year and has excelled at everything.
DGG 202h-$5500
A son of the Senepol bull that we sold to David Hall at Ozark Hills, topping the Pharo composite bull sales each year, 202H is out of the top producing Red Angus cow we bought from Michael Vance (Southern Reds) years back. He is her most impressive son and one we've used each year since he was ready to work. While he does not carry the slick hair gene, he does have tremendous depth of body, muscle, and heterosis to his offspring. He's probably the heaviest bull in the offering and one who would excel at making grass finished beef.
